Downpatching

The purpose of downpatching Special Edition is to enable Trainers & LRT to function properly. Currently this is the only way to run the game on PC.

Download these files and overwrite them in your installed folder ( If you don't know where it's installed you can right click the game on Steam —> Properties —> Local Files —> Browse ). Some advices:

  • Turn off auto-updates when lauching the game. To do that, right click the game on Steam —> Properties —> Updates. You need “Always keep this game updated” on and NOT “Only update this game when I launch it”.
  • You must also replace the original steam_api.dll file with the downpatch version, otherwise the game will not bootup.
  • Follow Tutorial of Slow Loading Time Fix this should improve game's performance since the port itself is usually hit or miss for most user's case.
  • .bak file is made with Third party tool HxD to achieve consistent 120 FPS by disabling Depth of field, Motion blur and God rays. However, it will keep the game resolution at 720p. Remove, if necessary.
