DMC4 Rank is determined on the Devil Hunter Points. The criteria are different for each mission. (1)
At the end of the mission the player will be assigned a Level Ranking that uses the following criteria:
The number of Proud Souls you gain at mission's end is equal to 3% of your total Devil Hunter points, rounded down. For instance, if the player scored 6,264 as detailed in the earlier example, then the number of Proud Souls obtained would be 187.92 or 187. The multipliers and the numbers that apply to all missions is always the same regardless of the difficulty.

Like most DMC games. The style meter will rise depending on the variety of attacks that are unleashed or dodges that are performed. Certain scenarios like deflecting Alto Angelo's Formation attack: Energy Sphere can instantly reward player highest rank.
