NG+ Any%

DmC NG+ Any% is a speedrun category in which the player tries to complete the game as fast as possible on a cleared file. The player must start the game with Vergil's DownFall game mode and reach the final animated cutscene in Mission 6 as quickly as they can. Using other programs to affect the game or modifying the game with mod is not allowed. This category is usually accessed due to New Game not having difficulties like DMD.

The leaderboards for this category are available here:

Rules

(The rules here are specific to this category. Go to this page to find the rules that apply to all DmC: Devil May Cry speedruns.)

  • This category with skips are unrestricted which means any form of skip is allowed.
  • Timer stops on the final animated cutscene in Mission 6 .
  • For Definitive Edition, make sure to turn on Turbo Mode in the game's settings so it runs 20% faster.

Learning

Learning a speedrun in DmC may seem intimidating, but the game most of the time is heavily scripted. This means majority of the time you preform a combat sequence with the right pattern, it will go same every single time.

The difficulty for this game emphasises a lot more on the movement and skips execution.

  • This game currently lacks resource for tutorial but make sure to check how the skip works to understand it's mechanics.
  • On the original release, it's much preferable to play unpatched due to the infinite glide trick.
  • The currency for this run are usually fixed. The demand for specific rank is not that high.
  • For PC runners, Make savefiles before each part that you probably have issues with. You can backup and copy the savefiles generally in <Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\220440\remote\.
  • Make splits. Download a program like Livesplit and setup your splits. It does not matter how bad they are in your first run.

Once you have completed your first run and made savefiles practice the parts you are least confident with then try another run.
